PCT 105 - Allied Health Assistant

This course will allow the student to delve further into three Allied Health Areas and perform skills represented in the three selected allied health areas. Students enrolled in this course will have completed the patient care assistant competencies and are adding these skills to be cross- trained to perform electrocardiograph patient care techniques, phlebotomy skills and geriatric skills. Clinical and classroom activities prepare the student with additional knowledge and skills needed for employment as an aide in electrocardiograph, phlebotomy and geriatric skills.
This course introduces the student to anatomy and physiology as well as common diseases related to each body system. Included is body structure and functions specific to the areas of electrocardiograph, phlebotomy and geriatric skills.

This course consists of 150 hours of classroom/theoretical study 3with complementing laboratory experiences
